It’s a bank holiday weekend here in the UK and I’ve managed to nab myself an extra day off. So I have a heavenly four days of me-time that starts right now!
I want to share a lovely quote with you which I came across in a book called Make Time (by Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky). More on that in another post, I’m sure. The quote is from Brother David Steindl-Rast:
“You know the antidote to exhaustion is not necessarily rest… The antidote to exhaustion is wholeheartedness.”
The last several weeks have been BUSY and outside of this long weekend I’ve managed to carve out, I don’t really see a lot of non-stressful, non-busy time in my near future. So I’m going to focus on making this weekend the most relaxing and rewarding time I possibly can. I’m going to do things I care about and I’m going to see if that helps my exhaustion more than just trying to catch up on sleep would1!
Here’s what I’m going to make:

It’s just a cute, simple little summer shrug, and it’s super easy to make. I want to finish this second sample before I write the pattern properly, but if you don’t want to wait until next week, hit me up and I’ll send you a link to my spreadsheet (Annika at hellaknitwear.com will work nicely so I can give you access!)
I’m thinking there will be three options once finished:
The pictured sample which has lace on the top half
A plain garter stitch version (suitable for beginners!)
A full-on lace version
And maybe later in the summer, we can work up some long-sleeved versions as well. I think that could be fun!
Oh, and here’s a quick sneak peek at something else I’m working on: I’ve got this little phone pouch I really like but I think I want to amend the sizing of it a bit before sharing properly.
Leave a comment and tell me what you’re making this weekend!
